The STIHL HLA 86 Cordless Long-reach Hedge Trimmer (Shell Only) comprises of the hedge trimmer shell only. A battery and charger are not included. You can use any AP battery and charger you already have in your fleet, or have the freedom to choose the right combination to suit your requirements. However, STIHL recommend the AP 200 battery for optimum performance.

 

A tip protector and blade scabbard are included with your purchase.

Q. What battery does the STIHL HLA86 use?
A. The HLA 86 is part of STIHL’s professional AP battery system. Any AP battery (or backpack battery) is capable of powering the STIHL HLA 86.

Q. How long does the battery last?
A. The recommended AP 200 battery will provide up to 144 minutes working time, dependent upon what is being cut.

Q. How long does it take to charge the battery?
A. Different batteries will charge at different rates, dependent upon the charger being used. The recommended AP 200 can be charged 0-100% in as little 45 minutes with the fastest AP 500 charger.

STIHL HLA 86  top tips

1) When you have finished using the hedge trimmer, remove the battery and clean the machine using a soft damp cloth. Spraying a resin solvent onto the blades will help to keep them from sticking together.

2) Never use a damp or wet battery, and avoid using it in extreme temperatures.

3) Store the hedge trimmer in a clean and dry area, away from children, and keep the battery within a temperature range of 0-50ºC and with around 40-60% battery charge (2 green LED lights).
